The headline could read as follows NRB approve new deer goal. Establishes that the state is currently 25% over goalBecause that is what this recommendation created. Now that the NRB opted to recommend the goal be 794,172. (the current goal is 740,000) this means is that right now, the deer herd is still 25% over goal and there are still roughly 200,000 too many deer in the state requiring units to have an Oct. Herd Control season and unlimited $2 antlerless tags. This will go to the legislature who has 10 days to either reject or approve, I would expect them to approve based on the "Investing in WI Whitetails" plan announced earlier. dnr.wi.gov/news/DNRNews_article_Lookup.asp?id=1367
