either change the law or make it common sense. I had a friend get an uncased bow warning because his zipper wasn't zipped the last 3 inches. The bow was in the back of a pick up.

In another forum, this same topic has brought about the concerns of such a change and crossbows. This might help those here with the same concerns because such a change would include them.
Actually, for those with certain approval (disability) they do not have to case their crossbow and can, in fact discharge a crossbow from their car/truck. The same is true for firearms use. Crossbows are only allowed for the disabled and elderly but it is only the most severely disabled that hunting from a vehicle is allowed.
Crossbows and bows are two very different weapons and each has a specific meaning as defined by the state. This is why the hunting regulations specifically speak to the terms "Bows" and "Crossbows" If you look to the Administrative code and more specifically the "NR" (Natural Resources) portion and more specifically NR-10 and even more specifically, NR-10.001, you will find the legal definitions that define bows and crossbows. Here is what it says:
(4) "Bow" means any bow, drawn and held by and through the effort of the person releasing it, but does not include crossbow.
(6) "Crossbow" means any device using a bow which, once drawn, is held solely by means other than the effort of the person firing it.
And while were on the subject,
(2e) "Archery hunt" means a hunting period for hunting deer with bow and arrow or crossbow as authorized by s. 29.171 (2) and (2m), Stats., in the zones described in s. NR 10.28 (3).
The statute enumerated above (29.171) details the elderly and handicapped provisions allowing the use of a crossbow.
These are all very important details one must understand if we are to effectively defend and protect the archery deer season from those that hope to redefine what it is we do and how we do it.
But I am getting off topic for the purposes of this discussion.
Yes, this change would include crossbows for the purposes of "Casing" but not for an expansion of the use of crossbows..
