Im adding a new area as a series for today’s bowhunter titled Practical tips for hunting archers. Feel free to add your tips by creating a separate thread for each tip so they can be sorted and stikied if they are really valuable. This inaugural tip deals with blood. Lots of blood is a great thing when it comes from game animal but is a terrible and potentially lethal thing if its coming from you. Broadheads and hunting knives are only two of the many ways a bowhunter can cut themselves and sometimes the cuts are severe. Part of every bowhunter’s pack should be a first aid kit and that kit should contain one of the many brands of blood stoppers. They can be the difference between life and death or at the very least a rushed and bloody trip from the woods to the ER and a less dangerous trip to get stitched up. These products are literally poured on the open wound to stop the bleeding allowing you to dress the wound and either continue hunting or seeking medical attention. Here is a link to brands of blood stopper that are easy to locate and major stores. www.firstaidsuppliesonline.com/nav.pl?cat=NavStopBleedYou can even use the products found at pet stores for dogs and cats. www.healthypets.com/gimstypticpow15.html
