We have long been scammed by those insisting that we bring down deer number to reduce the instances of Lyme Disease. All manner of news stories were written about how growing deer populations were the cause of the increase in cases of Lyme in people. Anybody paying attention to declining deer number yet increases in Lyme disease had to question the worried tales lamenting high deer number. If this were really the case, instances of Lyme in WI should have peaked between 1995 and 2000 when deer number were at their highest. Here is a story from news times with the title “To eradicate Lyme disease, cut deer populations” www.newstimes.com/news/article/To-eradicate-Lyme-disease-cut-deer-population-53731.phpNow the Scientific community has new information linking foxes and coyotes to Lyme more so than deer. The research indicates that declining fox numbers are to blame for the increase in Lyme disease because the decrease in foxes and the increase in yotes means less mice and other small rodents are being eaten by the foxes. As yote numbers go up, fox numbers go down. See more in the article in Scientific American. www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode.cfm?id=lyme-disease-outfoxes-deer-12-06-18
